All makeup fanatics such as myself will be aware of the cosmetics company Hourglass. If you haven’t, you really need to get onto that. Like, pronto. Hourglass are known for products with classy, elegant packaging and a slightly steep price tag. As much of a sucker as I am for beautiful packaging, it doesn’t mean diddly squat if the product doesn’t perform and luckily for Hourglass, you won’t ever be disappointed! Today I’m going to give you a run down of some of the Hourglass products that I own and love. So let’s start at the beginning (or the base in beauty talk) primer of course!
Mineral Veil PrimerWell slap me on the arm and call me Tony. If this isn’t the best primer in the world I would be very surprised (but I would also want your recommendations, naturally). The Hourglass Mineral Veil Primer is hands down my favourite primer EVER. It truly is one of those products worth the hype. The primer is quite liquidly and initially leaves a white ‘stain’ across your face (dirty minded people, stop it) but after it sinks in a little more, it leaves the skin feeling super soft and matte. This comes with a hefty price tag at $96AUD for 60mL. No your eyes are not deceiving you, I am simply laying down the facts my friend. If you’re unsure of whether this is the primer for you, do like aunty Katie and pay $25 for the travel size. Needless to say I honestly believe it’s worth the cash and would definitely purchase this again.
Ambient Lighting Blush
The Hourglass blushes are seriously beautiful. Unlike other blushes that can make you appear like you’re on your morning commute to clown school, the Hourglass blushes give you a subtle but buildable amount of colour with a lit-from-within glow. Perfection! I have four shades in total which are all equally gorgeous. If I were to have one criticism, it would be that the shades in the blush palette are too similar. Three shades of pretty pink is a bit too samesy for me! My criticisms are in vain as unfortunately, the blush palette is no longer available but I decided to include it anyway. I’m a tease like that.
Modernist Eyeshadow Palette
I never believed in love at first sight until I saw this palette. Seriously, look at it. It is the Angelina Jolie of the eyeshadow palette world. Never have I seen another palette like it, with the colours seamlessly placed next to each other in desert waves. Although I couldn’t speak highly enough of this palette in terms of looks, it’s performance is another matter (much like your ex boyfriend). This palette is still good, don’t get me wrong, but it’s just not great. The colour pay off and pigmentation looks fantastic when swatched on your hand but on the eye… it just doesn’t have the wow factor. Still beautiful although at $76AUD I don’t think it’s worth the price tag.
Ambient Lighting Palette
Another limited edition I’m afraid! However have no fear as the colours in this palette are available in singular form. This palette is perfect for any highlight enthusiasts out there such as myself. I particularly love the middle shade, incandescent light, and for a while there it was my go-to highlight. The highlighters in this palette give you a subtle but gorgeous glow. Nothing like the my personal favourite MaryLou Minizer by The Balm (which is like highlight on crack in the best way possible) however it is perfect for everyday use. Love!
So that wraps up this post. Do you have any product recommendations from Hourglass?
